Vision of the Damned...

Never again will I stop in and watch TV all Saturday night...! Is this our legacy...? Is this what our generation will be remembered for...? I for one opt out now. Don't bundle me in with this atrocity exhibition.

Thought I'd slow it right down and have an evening to myself on Saturday. What could be better than a night of beer, pizza and smokes? I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I was actually looking forward to it (does this come with age...?) So I settled in for a couch based evening of gluttony and mindless entertainment... only to have it spoiled by what can only be described as TV made by and for morons. Two hours of sub C-list 'celebrities' dancing about on ice...? Is this worthy of prime time...? In the words of the late, great Bill Hicks we'll all be 'paying a higher psychic price than we can imagine'. Flicking aimlessly through the plethora of channels available to me at the 'touch of a button' (fuck your advertising slogans... all that's available to me is a procession of zombified presenters filling space and time with inanity...) all I find is reality TV... Reality TV...? Whose 'reality'...? It certainly doesn't bear any resemblance to mine... I'm seriously considering getting rid of my idiot box altogether if this is all it has to offer... thankfully I'm a reader (which is more than can be said for the programming executives of any of the major TV channels judging by the pitiful plotlines of their so-called 'dramas') so had my books to fall back on... Kurt Vonnegut never felt to wholesome...

PS: Sorry for the rant but as an experiment try locking your doors next weekend and subject yourself to the current schedules... believe me, you'll find it hard to restrain your fury...!
